You shouldn’t have to choose between the hair you want and a process that’s actually good for you. Here, you don’t.
I’m Emily — a health-first hairstylist and blonding specialist based in Kansas City, and a certified FRC mobility coach and registered yoga teacher. Whether you’re in my chair or learning behind yours, the standard is the same: your health comes first, without compromising your results.
I work with women who care about what goes on their body — creating dimensional, lived-in blonding, thoughtfully placed extensions, and scalp care that supports real, lasting hair health. Because when your hair is truly healthy, it shows — and you don’t need to sacrifice to get there.ading their body with ingredients they can't pronounce.
"You deserve stunning hair AND a process that honors your health. I refuse to believe those two things are in conflict."
You have the right to know what goes on your body. I use the cleanest formulas available and will always tell you what's in them and why I chose them.
Precision cannot be rushed. Every appointment takes as long as it needs to — because that's how you get results that last and hair that's actually healthy.
FRC movement science, herbal medicine, and nutritional wisdom aren't opposites. The best results come from using evidence from both worlds intelligently.
Beauty that costs your health isn’t beauty. Every decision I make starts with one question: does this support or compromise your health?
Real wellness doesn’t require expensive supplements or fancy equipment. I focus on simple, accessible approaches that work for everyone.
The beauty industry is better when we support each other. I share what I know openly — because a rising tide lifts all boats, especially behind the chair.
I have been a passionate hairstylist for over 15 years — and I knew from a young age that this was what I was meant to do. The creativity, the connection, the craft of it. I genuinely love every second of it.
But somewhere along the way, I started noticing something that nobody in my training had prepared me for: the physical and emotional toll of this work is real, cumulative, and largely invisible until it isn't.
I watched talented stylists leave the industry in their 30s and 40s — not because they stopped loving the work, but because their bodies couldn't sustain it anymore. Back problems. Wrist injuries. Hormonal disruption from years of chemical exposure. Adrenal fatigue from giving everything to clients with nothing left over for themselves.
I knew I needed a different approach. So I went looking for one — and eventually found Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), developed by Dr. Andreo Spina. The same movement science used to extend the careers of professional athletes. I got certified, and everything changed.
I combined my FRC certification with my existing yoga practice, and began diving deep into cycle syncing, nervous system regulation, herbal wellness, and the science of toxic load reduction. I started applying it all to my own life behind the chair — and then sharing everything I learned with the beauty professionals around me.
Three years ago I formalized that into what is now the education side of Holistic Hair Hive: coaching, workshops, the wellness app, and free resources that give beauty pros the tools I wish I'd had in year one.
I'm still behind the chair in Kansas City. I'm still learning. And I share all of it — the science, the herbs, the DIY options, the honest conversations about what this industry gets wrong — every day on Instagram at @holistichairhive.
